Caption: In response to Mr. Adeney's questions about "how many rolls of film burned and how many motor drives fried" etc., I guess I have to admit I was too poor to afford a 'motor drive' for the old K1000 Pentax I used back then; along with the Speed Graphic, which was too ancient. But yes, we all, in our infinite wisdom, ran around like frenzied rodents chasing this train whenever we could. Great days for Kodak. Strange too, that last night I had selected this image of a #725 for uploading totally unaware that Mr. James was doing the same....... The CN #725 originated from Hamilton's Stuart St yard, and here is the power, CN 9177, 9195 and 9166, readying for this particular days' activity.

No A-B-A of F units could ever look better than a CN set in the zebra. Watching these units tie onto their train, I can imagine the anticipation of the good foaming that was in store; not just the power, but the street running up Ferguson Ave., dropping the hammer up the mountain, crossing the Grand… sigh.

Yes………thanks, Mike…..those were the (thrilling) days of railfanning for guys like myself and Mr. Adeney, Bill Thomson, and a few others. You had to be there. But the chase was often difficult; Hamilton traffic, parking,but thankfully decent lighting. It was surprising, actually, how few fans we saw out in the field most days. This train often left in the Hamilton rush hour. But the dedicated somehow found a way to chase. Heady days for sure, Mike, never to be forgotten. Glad you like the efforts of us old coots.

This unit is sitting @ Cresson Steel in PA waiting for a buyer… SOU 9177 is current reporting marks.. (was to be rebuilt by NS, not happening now)
