Caption: Today, I decided the visit a famous attraction in Toronto, the Ripley's Aquarium. While crossing the SkyWalk on the way there, I saw that down the tracks this particular machine was working on the tracks in the distance. After visiting the aquarium, I stopped at this spot right behind it for a while and heard a few blasts of a odd sounding air horn. Minutes later, I see this thing speeding down the tracks and I decided to try a pan shot as this machine will just fit in the camera frame, and it was going fast enough for a good one. Thankfully I didn't screw up, and I think it turned out fine. The machine likely belongs to the Toronto Terminals Railway which owns the tracks around Toronto's Union Station which is just to the right of where this image was taken. I believe it used for replacing ties. I've seen one of these before also being transported on the Canadian National Newmarket Subdivision in Huntsville, ON.

I believe that would be a Geismar (Modern Track Machinery) model KGT 3000 hi-rail excavator equipped with a 360 degree rotator and a general purpose grapple. By the looks of the load on the trailing Geismar material lorrie, the crew is setting out or picking up plugs (short rail pieces). The odd sounding horn and the rapid rotate amber beacon are European appliances that come standard on this unit.
