Caption: A pair of MLW 's, FPA-4 and FPB-4, have the Montreal morning departure Lakeshore at speed through the McCowan Road crossing on the approach to CN Scarboro Junction. At this date train #53 offered Via 1 and checked baggage services.
For those who maybe familiar with the westend of the Kingston Subdivision – near the Eglinton Go station – this area is almost unrecognizable today, changes include
- the aggregate business and associated rail access / sidings long gone
- grade separation – McCowan now passes under the Kingston Subdivision
- a big box hardware retailer now occupies the south east (left) corner Eglinton – McCowan
- housing development on the south side of the Kingston Subdivision – east (left) side of McCowan
- several apartment buildings at the south west (right) corner Eglinton – McCowan: nursing home / seniors residence and two separate condominium towers

Thanks for posting this. I briefly worked out of view to the right on Barbados Road about the same time with a view of the tracks.
Is this the crossing where the infamous GO Train versus TTC bus collision happened?
Now that is an interesting perspective on that location. Roof or balcony, Steve?
That GO Train vs TTC collision was at the St. Clair Ave. East crossing, rsd-17. We lived less than a km south on Midland at the time, but I wasn’t yet one years old, so have no recollection of it. My parents do, however.
The vacant land in the background beyond the gravel piles is the right of way for the unbuilt Scarborough Expressway. The housing development that Mr. Danko mentions on the south side of the tracks occupies said R of W.
from the 10th floor balcony – I believe the building is 16 floors sans #13. impossible to get this shot today due to developments on the southwest corner McCowan & Eglinton. sd.
