Caption: My thanks to Steve Host for inviting me to post some pictures here on this great web site! Over 35 years ago, through a strange twist of fate, I became the guardian of an unmarked cardboard box of colour slides. The images captured the final days of Canadian steam / first days of diesel operations. Unfortunately, I had no idea where they were taken, or who the photographer was. I did know, however, that someday this collection had to be restored and shared. I recently created and published a web site to display the first 75 images. Within hours, the Canadian railfan community came together to solve the mystery. The photographer was the late Stephen Delmonte (Del) Rosamond. The photographs were mainly taken in the Pembroke area. I was soon able call his sister and nephew with the news! They have been extremely kind, gracious and supportive.Fresh out of the box (figuratively and literally) this collection is currently available for viewing at http://www.CanadianSteam.Smugmug.com. Steve has generously allowed me to share the link with you. Please visit and let me know what you think.
In the not too distant future, it will be necessary to find a great web site to permanently host this collection. Please be sure to return to http://www.RailPictures.ca for further updates and additional images!
Respectfully,Peter Newman
