Caption: At the height of the rush hour commute, traffic stands still on the Don Valley Parkway in the background. Meanwhile, GO train 836 from Richmond Hill passes under the abandoned "Half-Mile bridge" of the CP Don Branch at Rosedale interlocking. Built it 1928, this bridge is no where near a half mile long, but is definitely enough to make someone look out in awe over the Don Valley, or panic. It was originally intended for freight and passenger service into the Union Station Rail Corridor. However, times changed of course, and the last train ran across this bridge in December 2007, which was the CP Holiday train.
As you can clearly see, this is a risky shot. There is no railing on the side of the bridge, and the entire Don Branch is filled with thick, sharp and poisonous weeds. The line is completely abandoned, and it would be pretty much physically impossible for a train to access it, however I'd recommend not using it for the above reasons. It's definitely a hazardous trip, and I'm debating even doing it again.

The line may be “abandoned” Daniel, but Metrolinx bought the Don Branch from CP for future GO service needs.
I understand. Not surprisingly, its already been mentioned by others. I’m aware of the risks involved, thank you for the warning though.
