Caption: Since others have posted cooler, winter-era photos - I thought that I could throw up one with the white stuff. Here we see CPR's passenger train to Orangeville - service never ended in 1970 - hauling a pair of coaches through Snelgrove, Orangeville, and eventually, Owen Sound.
Right... passenger service did end in 1970. So what is this? Here we have the OBRY "snow train", complete with classic painted coaches, and CPR 2267, assigned temporarily to the OBRY as their regular engine, CCGX 4009 was out of service for mechanical issues. The brand new GP20C-ECO had the pleasure of hauling the last "snow train" of the season, passengers on board none the wiser that the newest in the CPR fleet was at the lead. I bet the crew enjoyed the in-cab amenities (Picture here) plus that 'new cab smell'. One has to wonder if this was planned - considering the paint scheme of the CVE coaches - a classy paint job made all the better by pure circumstance!
Any RP.CA photographers have classic Owen Sound/Teeswater/Elmira branchline photos they wish to share? :) :) :)
