Photos such as this with a banner gracing the locomotive have always been extra special for me. I guess it is because of the human element involved. For this is the ONLY run to carry such banner, a one-of-a-kind memorial trip for the engineer and a once only time for the photographer. Thirty-one years service!! I wonder where he ran before he latched onto GO?? No doubt the reward for all those years was to finish off his career being able to go home every evening. This GMD GP40-2(W)became CN 9668 in 1991, and according to "sdfourtys" caption was dealt off in 2002. His delightful image of GO power sitting at Mimico, with #700 visible, made me recall this particular shot of many years ago........

  1. Interesting catch Arnold.

  2. Nice shot! Over the summer, I made a banner and presented it with a few buddies to a CP guy we knew who was retiring. Also of note, I find the horn/bell placement very interesting, I’ve never seen a horn mounted that close to the bell!
