Caption: It may be hard to imagine from this view, but this was one of the coldest, windiest, most raw winter days that I had ever been out in. One camera froze up, but thankfully the other persevered. I am open to the elements, standing on the old LE&N bridge over the CASO at Waterford, watching a CP 'important dude' Special, those on board 'inspecting' new trackage which gave TH&B/CP an easier route for the Stelco Steel Train from Hamilton to Nanticoke. (In July of 1983 CP purchased a right-of-way through the Township of Townsend and laid a gentler grade track from the old Waterford Sub mile 78.9 to the x-LE&N Simcoe Sub. mile 35.3.) The TH&B connection at Waterford was in the form of a Wye, east, and west (pictured) legs with CASO being the south.

CP 4233 must have felt the same way as you did, it retired to the Apache Railway. It’s sad that nothing is there today, other than the bridge you’re standing on. Thanks for braving the elements!

I wonder why that Budd Car was in the consist.
The Budd car (91) was one of two used in company service for odds and ends (display trains, official tours, shuttles, etc). It’s now at a museum out west in AB after CP donated it in 2008 or so.
