Caption: KITTYS BROOK 1988
Terra Transport Mixed Extra 935 West, formerly train #203, follows Kitty's
Brook in Newfoundland to the flag stop bearing the same name on April 16, 1988. This was my
third of five trips by train trip over the line during the last two years of
operation and the first on the recently refurbished coach. Departing Bishops
Falls with only passenger equipment, the two NF210s picked up the four
containers at Grand Falls, thus making it a true mixed. This photo and it's
contemporary update along with many others can be seen in 'RAILS ACROSS THE
ROCK - A Then & Now Celebration of the Newfoundland Railway' by Kenneth G.
Pieroway and published by Creative Book Publishing of St. John's, NL. –

Very neat – Intermodal on a mixed train. Only in Newfoundland!
…more than slightly ahead of its time, Terra Transport was fully containerized in the eighties…the trucking industry wasn’t ready!
