Caption: Only a few months to go!! CSX's tri-weekly service thru Southern Ontario was going to be history by March of 1996. Traffic had been withering away and there was no money to be made. The railroad ran two trains, one each way, on Mon-Wed-Fri. West was #321 and eastbound #320. Route was CP west to Welland where they picked up the CASO. Meets often had at Hagersville. In this wintery view, CSX 2021 and 8178 power a dozen cars thru the snow, approaching the South Siding Switch, Montrose. The mainline thru "the Falls" has been taken up, but there still is track from the present-day Hamilton sub as far as the switch here that enables the CP switchers from Welland Yd. to travel down which is now the Montrose Sub onto the Chippawa Lead to service local industry. The Minolta Tower in the background these days can barely be seen, surrounded by hotel development along the tourist strip.

Oh my…
Monday Wednesday and Friday?
I’m glad you had a job where you could get a day off in the week. Much of the most interesting stuff, like this, never ran on weekends. Thanks for your coverage of the CSX trains through The Falls.
It was nice to be out when most everyone else was working. People were puzzled that I never wanted Saturday off. This was the reason. Enough guys were covering the Sat excitement, so in essence, I missed little. Oh, and, you’re welcome.
