Caption: This caption should be headed, "The Day I Cursed the CPR". Being in a somewhat social mood for a change, I partied it up on New Years. Got to bed somewhere around 0330, spaced. Of course the flamin' phone rings at 0730; initial reaction was to heave the bloody thing thru the window, but, hey...this MUST be important. Instead, it was a buddy in Hamilton telling me I should get my ass to Kinnear yard right away as there was a good lashup not too far from departing. So off I go. Finding there was a bit of time free once I got to Kinnear at 0830, I loosened up my head (among other things) with a couple of large Timmies; and that helped considerably to get me into focus for the photo here. So, on New Years Day 1996, early, CP 8246, 779, 5447(an 'ugly sister') had 5 Conrails in primer, 4106, 4102, 4105, 4101 and 4104, ready to head Stateside. These SD80I locomotives out of GMLG (GM Loco Group) in London were part of a 28 unit order (4100-4127) and I understand all were shipped in primer and painted in the USA. Trust CP to try and sneak these things by us when we are all supposed to be in bed hung-over. :o)
