Caption: Laid off and out of work due to an economic downturn, CN 5515 and 5547 are just two of the dozens of locomotives stored at MacMillan Yard, coupled together and crammed onto every piece of available track around the diesel shop. They would eventually be put back to work, but for now sit parked together, unneeded by their owner.
Your daily lesson on locomotives: Both units pictured are SD60F models, a unique CN-only model derived from the standard SD60 and built by General Motors Diesel that featured a full-width cowl carbody with rear visibility tapering behind the cab, nicknamed the "Draper Taper" design (after William L. Draper, a CN Assistant Chief of Motive Power at the time). While other contemporary CN orders featured similar Draper Taper carbodies, it never really caught on en masse, and CN later reverted to more contemporary builder designs.
Class dismissed.
