Caption: It's amazing that after all this time, with class 1's spinning off branches to Shortlines - CSXT continues to operate an isolated portion of their network in Ontario, Canada. Once part of a larger C&O network, which formed an X between Buffalo-St. Thomas-Detroit, and Sarnia - Erieau all that is left is about 30 miles of trackage and a number of customers heavily concentrated within industrial Sarnia.
At the Sarnia "Roundhouse" we find the following engines on-site in April 2013: 2570,2574, 2561, and behind 2561 is 2672. Looming behind the "roundhouse" and the station site is the sprawling Imperial Oil factory smokestacks, the plant itself having grown up around the Railways in the area.
Many railpictures.ca photographers have posted photos from the past and present of these operations and much more is sure to come over the years, see the suggested photos below for more!
