Great shot… when did this train end?
Thanks. If I’m not mistaken this was the Senneterre to Montreal train & I believe it was serviced at, & run deadhead from, Cochrane before picking up passengers at Sennettere. So technically speaking this train is still running as VIA 606 (with newer equipment of course). I took this photo on a trip to Cochrane on the Northlander in the 90′s so I could chalk up a ride behind ONR’s rebuilt FP7s. I was surprised to see this train and so much first generation power in Northern Ontario. Asked the station attendant & she said it was the train to Montreal. Long time ago & am sketchy on the details, have been trying to piece together more info about this train. Cheers, Pete.
BTW, I just came across another source that states this train DID in fact run in revenue service all the way from Cochrane & that it was discontinued 1996 (current VIA 606 of course terminates at Senneterre). Hope this helps. Pete
