VIA #43, The Lakeshore, rolls by the restored ex GTR built station
When CN announced a proposed closure and removal, the Town Council rallied the community stakeholders including the Ontario Heritage Foundation, VIA, CN, etc to restore the station to the original 1881 appearance
Hence with CN contributing to the restoration the building remained labeled 'CN Port Hope' for some time after the 1985 restoration.
