Time for another old station offering. This time, it is the long-moved CP station at the hamlet of Locust Hill, which is a collection of homes along Hwy 7 east of Markham. There is not much to this place; unincorporated and without even a general store for many years.
This station was built in 1936 after the first one was destroyed by fire in 1935. The line known now as the CP Havelock sub was originally the Ontario & Quebec, a paper company of the CPR, and was constructed in 1884.
Locust Hill CP station went into disuse in 1969 and deteriorated, suffering neglect, until very fortunately it was saved by concerned citizens. In March of 1983, the building was moved to the Markham Museum area and restored. It now serves as a community centre.
