The old turntable in Woodstock obviously has seen better days. Probably hasn't turned a wheel all year. Neat the oil tank for the little shed as it almost looks like overkill. Tranquil scene in a town that no longer has any switchers based there. There used to be 3 or 4. I would assume a couple serviced the St. Thomas sub, which is now OSR.
 CP S-3 #6552 was retired by 1986.

  1. Great photo! Not too many structures lasted into the 2000′s but one did:

I think it was taken down around the time OSR took over.

  2. @Stephen C. Host- Yes that small structure certainly seemed to last the test of time. Then one day I went by as you say..gone!

@A.W.Mooney- Thanks for this great view of Woodstock. Hard to ever imagine a turntable was there!

  3. I know this is way off topic. The power pole by the cab roof of 6552 has spikes in it to aid in climbing up. You don’t see that anymore. It’s all by some kind of cherry picker now. :-)

  4. Larry: I remember those ‘spiked poles’ as a kid and it was always so frustrating because the first spike was just out of my reach.:o)
