What do you mean by “GUE” ?
@Mattwatson I do believe the plant at Guelph Junction is called GUE, or at least an abbreviation of the two. I have heard that in the past over clearances as well as other railfan’s giving that name to the junction. If I am wrong however from that please let me know.
CP does this with operations locally it seems. Nissouri to NIS. Kinnear to KIN. Guelph Jct to GUE, Wolverton to WOL.
@mattwatson, talking with a few of the older fans.” Train order office code for Guelph Jct was GU. The GUE along with other 3 letter short forms came into play after some mistakes happened giving clearances over the radio in MBS/OCS days “
OK I think what you are referring to was just the CP SSI (System Special Instruction) to CROR 132 (BREVITY, CLARITY, PRONUNCIATION AND RETENTION)(b) which reads in part “In addition, when the communication is required to be in writing, station names will be pronounced and then the first three letters stated”. But this is not an authorized abbreviation like Sdg (Siding), or Swt (Switch) or a name in it’s self.
