So many of us used to take these local moves for granted and forego photos as they were rather common. I shot as many of these as I could, and thought them "quaint".
CN 1322 with a couple of cars and a caboose is Hamilton-bound, moving by one of the points of the Bayview wye referred to Hamilton Jct. The old shed is long gone and the wooden sign I hope was saved, but more than likely got chopped and tossed. Aluminum replacements have been up for quite a few years already.
I think the sign gives an "old time" feel to the image.

  1. This is a wonderful subject and scene for those who model railways. :-)

  2. Hopefully someone rescued the sign.

  3. Great to see these types of shots. They may have seemed common at the time but contain a wealth of detail with the sorts of things that gave a railway personality. Thanks!

  4. Nice comment. Appreciate this, Dave. Most of us, including me, neglected to shoot scenes of the trackside views of old. Now must of the “quaintness” is gone, leaving us all so much poorer.
