Caption: People often think back to where they were and what they were doing when the planes hit the NYC Twin Towers in that famous 9/11 terrorist attack. It was a moment in time never to be forgotten. This wandering soul was on his way to the former CN Diesel Shop in Moncton, New Brunswick, to check out the Industrial Rail Services Inc that now called the old CN Gordon Yard home. The IRSI eventually declared bankruptcy in 2012. Engineers at the plant claimed faults with some of the 98 rail cars they were overhauling for VIA Rail, resulting in the falling behind of the order schedule, and VIA Rail terminated the remainder of the deal in April 2012. Completion of the $109 million contract was handled by CAD of Lachine, Quebec. In this image taken of the south side of the building, one can see some of the old Budd cars sold to IRSI by VIA in 2000.

9-11 and Mooney was somewhere chasing trains…figures.
I’ve always wondered how many fanners were caught out trackside on 9/11.
Word has it that the Industrial Rail, now that they are in dire need of money to pay off debts; have begun to scrap the RDCs in their possession as of December 2014 and supposedly will scrap ALL of them to recover stainless steel to convert to cash. So they are all history, unless someone with a bundle of dollars comes forth to save the odd one from certain death.
