Caption: OSR's still plowing.. and you'd hardly believe why on the approach to St. Thomas - we're at Ferguson Line not that far from city limits. See the brownish snow over top the light dusting of white snow? The brown-ish stuff is all the frozen snow from the last freeze-thaw - the wind can't blow it anywhere. The white stuff on top? This is the 3CM of white stuff that fell on Thursday in squalls/bursts - but funny enough, the small flurries are carried by the wind and make very large piles on the right of way, enough to cause trouble and thusly, the plow is called once again. I did not expect this, honestly.
Sick of winter yet?

Another great plow shot. I recall working a plow on the St Thomas & Port Burwell lines one time in 1988, when it was raining. We were making jokes to the effect that our train orders should read “Work Extra 1813 Squeegee” instead of snowplow. The reason they ran it, there was a nominal amount of drifted snow on the lines, but with the rain & subsequent quick cold snap predicted…the mix would freeze & be like cement, impossible to get through.
