Of course typical government cutbacks have managed to eradicate this once common scene forever, but back on a warm day in 1987 here is proof people rode the train; even from a scaled down facility such as this. The last time I visited this little stop before the passenger was discontinued; the waiting room had no phone, no heat,(or A/C) no timetable and filthy graffiti covered walls and one soiled bench to make the traveler feel at home. In order to find out how late the train would be,a note pinned on the wall suggested the rider check with the travel agency downtown...but you had better have your own phone..... It is a wonder some passenger routes hung on as long as they did. This image is of the Montreal portion of the 'Canadian' with VIA 6767 sole power. There isn't even any track east of Mattawa any more............
