Great pic, Thanks for posting. During it’s inception years, Amtrak was forced to make do with first generation power sold to it by the freight railroads who would keep their newest FP45′s ect for themselves, while hastily removing the steam heat boilers from them and patching them into the older first generation power that they sold to Amtrak that hadn’t been used in passenger service for years. For myself, I’d rather take the smooth comfort of the Empire State Express over a cramped jolting Greyhound any day of the week, if the service was still offered. Good on Amtrak for not abandoning the Niagara-Toronto route, unlike VIA who was forced to due to funding cuts. Regards, Pete. http://northamericabyrail.info
