Late in their careers VIA's LRC engine were hard to catch west of Toronto. I only caught them a couple of times including this day as well weathered 6914 is in charge of train 73 as it heads onto the Dundas sub. at Bayview Jct. Most of the time the units could be found often in pairs on express trains 66/67 between Toronto and Montreal. Thankfully a couple survive today in Canada as museum pieces.

  1. Nice. Never did get one. Wasn’t the last retired not long after?

  2. I remember a rumour when the F40′s were rebuilt that the surviving LRC’s would be reactivated to fill in, but as we all know that never happened. The arrival of the P42′s I believe sped up retirement, so I’m pretty sure they were all gone before the mid 2000′s.

  3. The last LRC revenue runs happened in December 2001 – so this was a very late, very rare catch indeed.
