Caption: I grew up in Summerhill. Without a doubt, the SOO SD60's that rolled by my house when I was younger was the biggest motivation to get trackside, whether it be a hockey stick or candy apple. Like many things, I took them for granted. Never a big CP photographer until more recently, most of the SOO SD60's were rebuilt by the time I decided to take some of my attention away from CN. I had received word that CP 240 would have a SOO SD60 leader this day, and I made a specific trip to Toronto just for it. I staked out and waited at my favourite childhood railfanning location, at the east end of Summerhill. With 6033 at the helm, and properly placed 8790 in behind, 240 creeps up to the Balfour bridge at a steady 20mph. This would be the second time I'd get a picture of a SOO SD60, and on both occasions the sun would dip behind the clouds just seconds before the train got close enough into the viewfinder. I was quite angered, and left back for St. Catharines feeling empty handed. It's been almost a year, but I decided to try and edit the photo to see what would come of it. Not great, but better than my first attempt at it. Now especially, this shot means a lot to me as some of the unrebuilt SOO SD60's in service just last year are in storage, now that CP is no longer heavily short of power. I have had no luck since catching a pure SOO unit. As for the visual memories of SOO's passing by my house though, I will never forget.
