Caption: I decided to post this as a follow-up to Geoff Elliot's really nice country setting photo with #2456 in the lead, photo #45134. It was great to see an old X-LMSX on the lead; but this image presented shows not all in that series are so lucky to be out there on the line.
At the old Martech facility in Welland, a number of CN locomotives are to be stored for scrap, either on site or elsewhere I am not sure which. Here we see CN 2455, a "fallen blue" about to be pushed across Rusholme Rd by company Centre cab #615 into the the Martech fenced compound to await its' fate. This is the end of the line. Quite a few more units there will eventually meet the same demise.

They are being scrapped on site by K&K
Always sad to see the end of a units life. I have operated 2456 and its brethren many times. Thanks for recording its scrapping
Okay. Martech is out (old Russel Steel facility) and K&K took over this site? I could see heavy equipment tearing apart a unit way out back.
Yeah Martech is up in Port Rob now. Not sure as to the permanency of K&K at this location yet; I can’t really find an answer on that one, but for now at least they are cutting up units here. Trillium making the moves for them and Welded Tube.
The guy protecting the crossing told me ALL were being scrapped on site. CN 2189 and 2158 were shoved right into the back thru the doors and are first in line, as he mentioned. CN 2178 looked like it had had a major fire….
Never realized those units received rear ditch lights. Surprised they didn’t remove them before scrapping.
The units were moved inside the building for some salvage work prior to scrapping. Maybe those rear ditch lights live to see another day, Marcus.
