Glad the construction is done; couldn’t get there in June with the road closed. Does this platform make up for the one at the Spiral Tunnels where you can no longer see anything?
The wooden platform isn’t much help. It’s for the tourists, good views of the mountains, the valley and the river, with interpretive plaques. Still pretty good view of the railway from the new sidewalk on the railway side of the road, and separated by concrete barrier so you are safe from the traffic. Regarding the Spiral Tunnels I find it amazing that a few trees cannot be cut to provide a good view because it is altering the natural environment whereas at the top of the Big Hill half the mountain can be blasted away to twin the road. Go figure? Who makes these decisions?
Morant’s Curve viewing area was modernized this year…seems that CP and National Parks was concerned that tourists would fall or drive off the embankment…will post a shot of the new viewing area shortly…as for Spiral Tunnels viewpoint hopefully will be re-built once the TCH highway widening is completed (2019?)
