For the first time, Covered wagons are sole power on OSR's daily Salford to Woodstock, ON freight, and OSRX 1401 (formerly RLK 1401, ex CN 6523 built in March 1957) is hauling freight again. 1401 last held duties on the Goderich-Exeter Railway but sat in a deadline for a few years years before being acquired by the Ontario Southland in 2013. 1. Excellent shot! Clearly shows the grade being surmounted. 1401 once had the best initials ever!

  2. Excellent Steve! Can you let me know the next time your place of employment is hiring? It amazes me how you’re always able to get time off when good stuff is running! :)

  3. That’s pretty awesome. Any rumours of these things getting a fresh coat of paint?

  4. This kinda makes me sad because for a while now I have been looking for the stats of the 1401 but I would search Rail Link 1401…… I remember growing up with this engine (from 2002 up till 2009) And I would love to see the 1401 back in RAIL AMERICA livry again back on the Godrich-exeter railway.

  5. Jonny, I’m sorry bud but your memories will have to live as memories or photographs. Also remember they weren’t ever in Rail America livery, it was Raillink, with a Rail America patch.

Raillink died almost 20 years ago when Railtex bought them, so none of it will be coming back.

Bring on the OSR paint scheme – whenever it happens! 1400/1401 continue to be in former Raillink paint.
