CTC Board's Day in the West II. This is Janice's photo. My (Steve Young) shot was light struck (and camera destroyed) when my camera and tripod were blown over.
This is a westbound grain train in the Bow River Valley east of Cochrane.

  1. What a horror to lose the camera. Even worse on a beautiful day such as this, when it is such a pleasure to be out in rural Alberta !!!

  2. Yeah, it was a bummer. There is never a good time to have to replace camera equipment. It looks like I was out of commission for a week. I had thought that it was longer than that.
I went to a Contax 147 with a 50 and 135 mm lens. I still have it, but I replaced it in about 2003 with a Canon EDS 3. I was much more careful when using a tripod after this incident. I have a much heavier tripod, and I weigh it down if I plan on sitting a camera on it for any extended period.
