Caption: BCRY's Barrie Turn approaches Utopia to interchange with CP and pack it in until Thursday. Colwell to me is one of the most interesting locations on the BCRY, as the Penetang Spur splits off here and goes north to Highway 90 (it used to go all the way to Penetanguishene). I lived near Colwell between late 2013 and early 2015, and used the trail along the hydro corridor frequently to ride my mountain bike. When I biked here last in October 2013, the Penetang Spur had a small string of tankers stored, but they were not in the way of the path. Since then, the oil boom came and cleared Colwell of any tankers, and then it ended abruptly. A tornado also ripped through here in 2014, ripping down hydro lines and destroying a good chunk of the Tiffin Centre (a park with trails, which I am standing at the edge of). Colwell is once again stored with tankers, however this time both the runaround track and the Penetang Spur are packed full with tankers. As for the BCRY, unlike most railroads, they have benefited slightly from the slow economy, as they've been given the opportunity to store about 100 tankers, with 200 more on the way apparently to be stored on the Meaford Sub west of the Utopia diamond.
