A trip back in time.... I'm just over 1 year old when this picture was taken by an unknown photographer, but when I saw the slide, I had to have it. It's April 10, 1969 and it appears like everyone is waiting for a westbound CN passenger trains by the way the kids are looking to the east in this picture. Train order hoops are empty, but neatly placed in front of the Operators window. I love seeing old pictures from the 60's and 70's when life appears to be so much simpler than it is today.

  1. I can only imagine the traffic that rolled by this station in ’69. CN Tempo trains, Regular passenger, N&W Freights with ex Wabash F units up front, plus a bunch of CN Freights… oh my.

  2. This has always been one of my favorite stations in Ontario, too bad it has been moved but at least it has been beautifully restored. Great shit!

  3. So sorry, meant great shot! Why does the I and O have to be beside each other :)

  4. As far as “old pictures” go, I’m right there with you on this, Geoff. This is a gorgeous image, and it sorta brings out the nostalgia of days gone by in any of us old enough to recall those uncomplicated times. Neat and clean. Bright red doors, manicured landscapes; all those things bring the past back to life in a shot like this. And to Marcus: You’re a BAD boy!! :o )

  5. Sadly by 1997 it didn’t look that good as can be seen @ http://www.railpictures.ca/?attachment_id=7486. I’m glad they moved it and restored it…

  6. This is from January 2010, what the station looks like now a days. It is nice they fully restored the Station now.

  7. A real beauty, especially with the classic CN grey, red and blue tones.
