Caption: A train of GO Transit self-powered single level Hawker Siddeley cars (signed up with a "Test Train" placard at the end) heads through Guildwood GO Station passing lines of now-vintage autos parked at the station sometime in the late 1960's. To start their commuter operation, GO purchased tonnes of single level coaches & cab cars built by Hawker Siddeley Canada (based on their subway car design) for use in conventional trains with locomotives, but they also purchased 9 self-propelled versions in 1967 powered by Rolls Royce engines (all single ended RTC-85SP models, except two with cabs on both ends which were RTC-85SPD). They were intended to operate in off-peak service, but due to reliability issues were eventually de-powered and converted to regular cab cars in 1975, and lasted as such until retirement. Trailing car D701 is currently still plying the rails as Ontario Northland coach 702.
