A set of four BuddCars are seen Toronto-bound from Niagara Falls at the rarely photographed Sixteen Mile Pond bridge; one which is vastly overshadowed in popularity by the larger bridge at Jordan Harbour. This location is not visible from the roadway, and is off-limits as to private property on both sides. VIA passenger service has been discontinued along this route. Only Amtrak prevails, plus of course, a couple of morning freights each way.

  1. I bet those Budds were like GO’s old loco power…ho-hum to shoot until they vanished from most of the Southern Ontario lines :)

  2. It’s too bad GO doesn’t have similar but updated trains like this to serve Niagara and other less busy lines.

  3. do you have any shots of the budd cars in merriton area?

  4. Don’t remember if I have any Budds at Merritton or not. But I will watch for some when going thru old photos. The Budds were a long way from my favourite subjects when trackside. :o )

  5. Is this the bridge that was planned to be blown up by terrorists?

  6. If any bridge was going to be blown, you’d suspect it would be the one at Jordan; but the Sixteen Mile is secluded. A lot of hanky-panky there might go unnoticed.
