A scene that follows nicely to Arnolds photo at Paris Junction in the 70's (see here)  I present the above image which I happened upon on Sunday morning.
The conductor on CN 580 is looking attentively at the moement, he's calling it in feet and they move very slowly due to the irregularities found on track DF42 and DF40 beside him - frogs missing and clearly lots of rust, these tracks rarely see any service. DF33 pictured here, functions as the Paris wye's east tail (and for some setoffs) and is the remains of the former St. George sub - removed after the Brantford Cutoff was built around 1900-1930.
I'm led to believe this car was set-off for a wheel replacement, and needs to be accessibly by rubber tire mounted crane.

  3. How is the Dundas Sub these days? Has train activity picked up?

  4. Kevin, yes – Addition of oil traffic (720, 721, etc) 328 (westbound) 329 (eastbound) and 360 (westbound, often with DPU) has made things quite a bit busier. Also seen the return , on occasion of 276 (automotive) and as required extra intermodals.
