About Not-one-of-the-boys

Even though I am "not one of the boys", I have been an executive member of the Canadian Railroad Historical Association (Niagara Division) since 2011 and have been serving as President for the past 3 years and running. I enjoy experimenting with all types of photography and am currently using a Nikon D5100 with a 18-200mm lens.

CP 7022 northbound #247, seen switching in Welland yard, Wainfleet ON.
CP 7022 wears the grey, red and black colour pattern of modern Canadian and American warships, and to me, it appeared that the conductor (seen here) was imagining himself on the bow of a ship sailing across the Atlantic (as so many of our fathers and grandfathers did during the Second World War)

CP 9732 and UP (Mopac Heritage) 1982 on train #241 westbound approaching the siding at Puslinch, ON.

An otherwise overcast and dreary Sunday morning in March yielded a bit of excitement when I came across this elusive 'beast' sitting in the Niagara Falls yard. This multipurpose work unit (including a back hoe/loader that can travel along it's own gondola cars) is Herzog 175, MPM VII. Difficult to photograph due to it's unusual length, it was captured by my camera in three stages.
Some landmarks visible in the background include the spire of the Saint Patricks church on Victoria Ave, Casino Niagara (ex-Maple Leaf Village) tower, and the Skylon tower.

Photographed on CRHA Niagara's "Longest Day" event in 2016 (a 37 year tradition to go out rail-fanning on the Friday closest to the longest day of the year); we couldn't help but admire the ingenuity of this railfan's method of getting a more interesting photographic angle by using a powered parachute. Train itself was CN 2299 and 2512 followed by a long line of mostly autorack cars.

Ex-CN 4004 then Ex-Rail America 4095, now Goderich-Exeter 4095 stands in the foreground to GERX 3393 on a sunny spring afternoon at Goderich station. A work crew was operating a crane that was moving axles that day.
Crew seemed to enjoy the sight of a jeune-femme in a short denim dress taking pics of the goings-on.
