BC Rail 4624 flies through the golden summer fields of Dorchester.

Its been a hot minute, but I'm back. Fairly recently, a new pedestrian bridge was opened just east of Trafalgar Street. Looking west, it offers a nice vantage point of London's skyline. With the sun setting on an absolutely frigid afternoon, CN 2030 and BCOL 4611 glide past London East and out of the city.

OSR 1401 and 1594 (I think? or is it 1620? I forget which is paired with 1401) pass through Belmont hours later than the usual time. My guess would be they made a run to Aylmer today? Some background on this shot: I was sitting in the living room when I heard a familiar horn at an unusual time, would I make it to the tracks? Quickly I got my camera and the race was on! I ran across a field to the tracks, beating it by about 20 seconds. A quick check for exposure was all I had time for before I started shooting, this is the result.

After getting off the train, I headed to the front to get some pictures of 6406 and its train at dusk. Shortly after, it would pull out of London and continue the trip to Sarnia.

It was a PA day off school for me, and I was sitting around until I heard the distant horn of OSR 1594. I quickly got my camera bag and ran for the crossing. Soon enough, a headlight shines off the line of stored tank cars, and the nose of an ex-CP GP9u comes in sight through my viewfinder. The fog and gloominess made for a very moody atmosphere. I've always liked the different, non-perfect sunlight shots, that give off a mood, and a somewhat dark feel. Plus OSR's mellow colour scheme fit in nicely to a dull day.

After switching in Hensall and grabbing lunch, 581 continues south headed to Exeter to switch boxcars at Exeter Co-op. Note the push-pull system with 3030 on the front and 2303 on the back. There is no wye in Exeter, and this allows power to be on the head end both ways.

On Wednesdays, GEXR 581 makes their weekly trip down the 10mph max Exeter subdivision. The two destinations are usually to switch grain cars at the Hensall District Co-op and Thompson's elevators, and then on to Exeter Co-op to drop off usually one boxcar for distribution. Here they are pictured in Clinton at the wye, where 581 makes a lift of one grain car, eventually to be dropped off in Hensall for loading. The matching set of 3030 and 2303 are in charge of 581 for the day.

CP 9829 and 8705 pull off the siding after meeting with a westbound. The flat and open farmland makes for many great shot opportunities. Definitely an area worth checking out if your looking for good countryside shots.

OSRX 6508 and 182 pull off of the siding after lifting 3 tanks, and now they throttle up out of Belmont as they approach Taylor line.

A 40 minute late VIA 72 slowly passes by the Glencoe VIA station before speeding back up on its way to London. A few trees still had some colour on them, and the sun half came out which made this even better.

A solo CP AC4400CW is in charge of 244 as they pass over a neat old concrete bridge, made in 1909. They give a short blast of a beautiful Canadian K3 horn, as I'm busy taking pictures. There were no ES44ACs out of 2 CP trains I saw, not bad.

A pair of EMDs are in charge of CN 371 as it cruises over the Thames River trestle. The wind even died down a bit right before the train went by, making the reflection look a bit better.

CN A438 passes MP 6.7 at Frank's Lane bridge with a special unit trailing. ex ETR 102, now OS 102 trails behind a CN dash 9 and gets dropped off at London East. Will it get transferred to OSR by CP or CN from London?
