My name is Michael Berry and I grew up in Montreal West, a town with numerous rail lines passing through. I have always been interested in trains but have been photographing them on a regular basis since 2005. I currently use a Nikon D5300 with a NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3G ED VR lens. CN 3140 & CN 2896 lead CN 369 on the north track of CN's Kingston Sub, VIA 65 had just passed on the south track about thirty seconds before. A few cars back from the head end is a Flexity Outlook streetcar built by Bombardier (TTC 4405).

No longer as common in Eastern Canada as they once were, a pair of ex-Oakway SD60's (CN 5437 & CN 5431, along with SD70M-2 CN 8863 third) are the power on a very short CN 401 (38 cars) as it rounds a curve in Montreal West. The two SD60's had gone to Quebec City on empty windmill train CN X386 the previous night.

CN 2281 is ready to be picked up from AllRail after work was done on it there (not sure what work, but possibly PTC installation). CN 591 would pick it up the day after and bring it to Coteau, where CN 326 would pick it up to bring to Montreal.

East of Montreal CN 120 is generally 3+1 for power, but from Toronto to Montreal it's generally just 1+1 or 2 units up front. Here CN 120 is still west of Taschereau Yard (where it will add more power and more platforms) with CN 3165 up front and CN 3048 mid-train.

VIA 24 has VIA 920 (in 'love the way' wrap) and VIA 6438 for power as it crosses the Lachine Canal as a pair of kayakers head west on the canal. At right work continues on rebuilding the southern retaining wall.

It has been announced today that CN is buying CSX's ex-NYC Montreal Secondary line (running from Valleyfield, Qc to near Syracuse, NY), which will soon put an end to runthrough CSX power in and near Montreal. Always a nice diversion from the usual CN and CP power, here we see CN 327 with a pair of ex-Conrail SD40-2's (CSXT 8831 & CSXT 8849) crossing the Ottawa River. This train will reach CSX rails at Valleyfield and get a CSX crew near the border.

CN 148's light power (CN 5695, CN 2160 & CN 8961) is about to be overtaken by VIA 65 with VIA 6418 leading. Once VIA 65 passes, they will get the signal to proceed towards Taschereau Yard after bringing a late CN 148 into the Port of Montreal.

CN 3072, CN 8019 & CN 8915 are at the head end of a 624-axle long CN 120 as it rounds a curve in St-Henri. Mid-train is CN 3864.

Empty ethanol train CP 651 has a ut of 49 autoracks up front (and 94 tank cars behind) as it splits a set of signals on CP's Vaudreuil Sub just before it leaves the island of Montreal. Power is CEFX 1058, CP 9732 & CP 8060.

What was known as the AMT is now rebranding itself as Exo, with the slogan 'Allo Exo' (hello exo). This rebranding is apparent on the nose of AMT 1345 (arriving at Montreal West Station) as well as on a multilevel car at right, where an AMT logo once graced the dark blue semi-circle.
