My name is Michael Berry and I grew up in Montreal West, a town with numerous rail lines passing through. I have always been interested in trains but have been photographing them on a regular basis since 2005. I currently use a Nikon D5300 with a NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3G ED VR lens. [Editors note: newsworthy] <b>Taking the long way to New Brunswick.....</b> A loaded oil train which had been sitting on MMA tracks in Farnham, Qc since the Megantic disaster was brought back the way it came (to Montreal) and will be interchanged to CN, who will bring it back east to New Brunswick. Power was three leased SD40-2s: CEFX 3172, CITX 3097 & CEFX 3163. Here it crosses over the St-Lawrence river and heads towards Lasalle Station.

<b>Narrow Gauge business car.</b> The CN business car 'Terra Nova' was used on Newfoundland's narrow gauge (3'6'') network until it was donated to the Canada Science and Technology Museum in 1970, where it now resides. For more train photos, check out http://www.flickr.com/photos/mtlwestrailfan/

<b>Streamlined CN Steam.</b> The Canada Science and Technology Museum has a compact but impressive display of Canadian steam engines in their main building (with more in storage). Probably the most impressive is CN 6400, one of 5 streamlined engines the Montreal Locomotive Works (GTW also had similarly streamlined engines built by Lima). For the 50th anniversary of Exporail in 2011, CP sent a freshly repainted locomotive (CP 9733) to the musuem and opened the cab up to the public. <b>A pair of eastbounds.</b> VIA 52 (inbound from Toronto) with VIA 904 in the lead is about to blow by CN 394 (bound for Richmond, Qc) which has just left nearby Taschereau Yard. Leading the CN train are CN 2449 (with modified radiators) and CN 8945. To the right is some MoW equipment; CN has been doing a lot of trackwork on the Montreal Sub recently. <b>Quad GP9's.</b> Four GP9's (CN 4102, CN 7275, CN 7017 & CN 7031) are in charge of CN 527 today, operating on the transfer track. This track has primarily been used for storage of cars the past few years, but since CN cleared the growth from this track a month ago, there has been an increase in traffic on it. <b>A face only a mother could love.</b> You've heard of chop nosed locomotives.... Well say hello to a no nose locomotive! On their second order of RP20BD's, the Port of Montreal specified this nose design, which differs from their first order which had a more conventional nose. Here POM 1004 is stopped to participate in the Old Port Symphony, which involves boats, trains and church bells making a lot of noise, an annual event. While on lease to the AMT last winter, RBRX 18533 (an ex-GO Transit F59PH) pushes a train into Montreal West Station as the snow falls. This engine is painted for MI Transit, a commuter train operation in Michigan which has not started operation as of yet. AMT 1362, a dual mode ALP-45DP built by Bombardier is pushing on the rear of a deadhead movement through Montreal West that is heading downtown. At the front of this train is another ALP-45DP (AMT 1354). When this photo was taken in March 2013, two units were used on most trains. This has now been reduced to one unit. For now these locomotives are still being used in diesel mode only on the AMT, though they may be used in electric mode on the Deux-Montagnes line in the fall. <b>Last year's holiday train.</b> CP 9815 pushes the deadheading 2012 CP holiday train over 55th avenue in Lachine. It was temporarily heading east towards St-Luc Yard after being on display at Beaconsfield. The next day it would head west across Canada.
