Thanks for visiting my profile! I'm Hunter Holmes, I've been a railfan since before I could talk. As with many railfans eventually the interest went beyond just watching the trains roll into the station, with the introduction of the popular video sharing site YouTube in 2005 I purchased my first video camera and headed trackside. Ever since I've been a hardcore foamer. Though my focus always has been video I have recently got more serious about still photography. Just after the LORAM rail grinder made its way through Chatham doing each crossing, CP 644 made its way through the tunnel from Detroit Michigan with some interesting CSX power behind this rebuilt ex SOO Line SD60.

On my way downtown to catch CP 644 on its way from Detroit Michigan I noticed that I was pacing a rail grinder. I beat the train to one of my preferred crossings and watched as RGS1 (LMIX 604) worked its way West on the CP Windsor Subdivision two crossings at a time. This is one of the smaller rail grinder trains that LORAM has used to do crossings and switches that the larger trains don't get.

A special visitor has been hanging around the last few days... in the form of a GTW geep! Unfortunately due to my work schedule and other commitments I haven't been trackside enough to catch him but today was my chance! Not often does foreign power end up on local trains but this is proof that it does, and lucky of all of us it was leading too! Here we see GT 4927 and CN 4700 accelerate across the former CSX diamond at Chatham East, what a sound!

GEVO 8875 makes a powerful appearance around the curve headed West towards Tilbury in what can be an excellent location if you can get the lighting just right. A keen eyed observer will notice a little red winged black bird trying to steal our attention as it dodges across the tracks.

<b> STOP BEFORE CROSSING </b> is a suggestion usually ignored by the majority of drivers at rural railway grade crossings, sometimes with fatal consequence. Remaining pieces of a Dodge pickup lay scattered along the side of the road as a fresh reminder of what can happen when things don't go as planned. This was the sight of a collision earlier last week between the second locomotive of an eastbound CP much like this one. Luckily both occupants survived although quite shaken. Parts lay strewn over the area for about two hundred feet passed the sight of impact, yet still today I witnessed over a dozen vehicles blow right through this crossing without even a glance... With the short days of winter and working full-time I rarely get a chance to make it trackside anymore before nightfall, and even more rarely get a decent train the cooperates with my schedule. Fortunately things worked in my favour today and just as I was finishing work I got word of a Union Pacific leading an Eastbound, so after a quick dash home to grab my camera and back to the tracks I set up my shot just barely making it before the train. Talk about luck! The only unfortunate part of the whole situation is the terrible afternoon winter light that is trying its hardest to ruin my shot.

CN 439 had a little bit of everything for power today, not often does one see a GP9RM, a GP38-2W and a GMD1 all on one train... now if only all trains got this kind of retro power!

The Canadian Pacific Holiday train is easily the most photographed train in Canada and it may no longer stop in Chatham, but I still managed to grab an 'in-your-face' shot of 9824 departing Ringold for the night's show in Windsor.

I've finally made use of the nice garden area that Entegrus provided across from the station. It provides a nice place with benches to enjoy the architecture of the old Grand Trunk station, today we were treated to F40PH-2d 6411 and a consist of LRC coaches.

RG 309 rests in the Chatham South Yard on the Sarnia Spur awaiting it's next assignment. The bright lights covering this train make it particularly difficult to photograph at night but provide quite the spectacle for anyone trackside. The real highlight of course is when the sparks start flying.

A little rough around the edges but still a beautiful treasure with a lot of character! I think we can all appreciate an F Unit no matter what shape it's in and this is no exception. Being that they were very slightly before my time, to see them either in a museum or operating it is a wonderful experience. I just hope she can hold onto her CN noodle and Zebra Stripes for a while more. Far too much equipment has been painted into the short lived, old fashioned, Green/Gold/Black scheme, in most cases unprototypically.
