Looking through a hole in the fence, we see CN 439 heading up the grade to Dougall Ave. lead by CN 4700, GTW 4927 and CN 4710 with a 40 car train bound for Van de Water yard. The spur in the foreground heads to Zalev's Scrap.

GTW 4927 and CN 4700 lead an average length 26 car train up the CASO en route to Van de Water Yard. This daily freight (which handles mostly interchange traffic for the Essex Terminal) plus a diminutive local, with only 2 customers to switch, is all that is left of CN in Windsor.

GT power is a rare sight in Windsor these days, so I was pretty surprised to find this blue unit sitting in Van de Water Yard. The Grand Trunk had several transfers to and from this yard through the Detroit river Tunnel to their yards around the Detroit area, but the last of those ended 5 years ago. This came in on 439 earlier today.

As I was heading north for a week long camping trip, I was driving through Wallaceburg and caught this local creeping along John Park Line, so I chased it through town. Here CSX GP38-2 2574 leads a lengthy train pass the former site of the Wallaceburg Station.

ETR 104 hauls the first of many unit grain trains out to Ojibway Yard for loading at ADM. These trains are now regular and provide some big extra business for this little railway.

Just another day on the CSX in SW Ontario today as the Wallaceburg local heads east through Tupperville en-route to Dresden to run around their train. He will then return to town, switch the elevator here and drop a car in Wallaceburg.

After stopping just back in Puce due to a brake line issue, CN 439 lead by a GP38-2 and a widecab SD40-2 have returned to track speed as they head into Windsor along VIA's Chatham sub.

CN 7255, 223 & 9525 have today's local to Terra Industries well in hand as they head south past Courtright Rd., nearly 2/3 of the way into their daily journey south to serve chemical industries that parallel the St Clair River.

The transfer from CN is seen here backing up towards the yard behind them in the distance. This job requires a caboose/ shoving platform as they shove about two miles North from Lasalle Rd. to Sarnia Yard. The empty grassland to the left used to be a massive chemical complex occupied by the Dow Chemical Company, who closed down the plant in 2009.

CP 243 pulls into Walkerville Yard behind 8777 and UP 5550. Immediately after the two is CITX SW1500 1565, surrounded by 4 buffer cars. The SW1500 would be set off in the west end of the yard and was picked up by another freight later that day.

CN 438 heads SE out of Windsor through Pelton as he begins his long slow journey along the CASO to Fargo, where he will swing north onto the Sarnia sub before heading back east on the Chatham sub.
