The Lakefield station in its second life as a bookstore. This station had a cameo in the 1977 movie Ragtime Summer. The film was later renamed Age of Innocence. The scene featured a gas-electric doodlebug arriving at the the station. In those pre-internet days we had no idea this was going on!

In need of some tlc, former CP coach 1431 and sleeper "Hungerford" await redevelopment at Port McNicoll. The cars were formerly part of the Ossawippi Express restaurant in Orillia. Photo taken from the Deck of the former CPR ship SS Keewatin.

CP's one and only M640 4744 leads five big alcos on an eastbound freight. One of those shots you kick yourself for. My Brother skipped classes to to spend an afternoon at Port Hope. I stayed in class and never saw the M640 until it was donated to Exporail.

Four SD-40-2's spliced by GP-9 8663 have just crested the continental divide. Construction of the railway caused the creek here to have its path divided, hence the name Divide Creek. Half of the flow goes west towards the Pacific, the other half goes east. If you would like to change the world, you can take some water from one side and put it on the other.

Power change at Calgary. 1402, a B unit and RS-10 8558 have just been replaced by 1406, 1965 and 1423. 10 months after taking over CP's passenger services VIA's equipment was still in the rainbow phase.

An FPA-4 and 2 GM B units roll 11 cars west. My Brother's photo turned out better than mine. I was shooting from the opposite side of the train. My shot had some brush in the way.
